It’s Primary Election Time! Time to vote for Democrats.
If you are an absentee voter, look for your ballot in the mail. In Montana, we have an open primary, so be sure to vote ONLY the Democratic Party ballot. Pick the best candidates for the General Election and send a message that Democrats can and will win in November!
In recent weeks, there has been discussion of the potential benefits of voting in the Republican primary to ensure that moderate Republicans are on the ballot in November so that we don’t get stuck with MAGA extremists in case the opposing Democrats don’t win.
The Cascade County Democratic Central Committee is urging you to vote for Democrats in the Primary and here are three reasons why.
1) Show your support for our candidates.
Running for office is hard. Our candidates are volunteers who work day after day doing the challenging tasks of running a political campaign. They do this hard work because they care passionately about building a future for everyday Montanans that is fair, forward-thinking and protective of our rights. Let’s thank them by showing our support and VOTE FOR THEM.
2) Vote in the Democratic Primary to demonstrate the built-in support for our candidates.
After redistricting, there are unknowns about the number of Democratic voters in our districts. Voting for our candidates in the primary demonstrates that candidates can and will win in November. Outside groups are keeping an eye on turnout in our elections in Cascade County and a strong showing by Democrats can motivate additional donations, volunteers, and stave off Republican attacks on our candidates.
3) Let Republicans clean up their own mess.
The Republican party is a mess. They have let themselves be overrun by extremists who attack reproductive freedoms, raise taxes on the poor and give tax breaks to the rich, and even more attacks on our freedoms. None of us have a crystal ball to see the future if our Democratic candidates have a better chance against the MAGA extremists or the MAGA “moderates”. Why should Democrats help them to clean up their mess? Instead, let’s pour our energy into Democrats who share our values and policy positions and help them win!

Be sure to turn in your ballot by Tuesday, June 4th!
