The cast may have changed but the play remains the same: Unfettered Transphobia starring Cascade County’s Republicans

It appears to have made very little difference that Cascade County voters purged the most hateful of the haters in the 2024 primaries. The end result in the legislature remains the same: A Republican campaign of hate against anyone and everyone who is different. Every single one of Cascade County’s Republican house members voted “yea” on the 2025 anti-trans “bathroom bill”.

  • Steve Fitzpatrick, HD 24 – “yea”
  • Steve Gist, HD 25 – “yea”
  • Randyn Gregg, HD 78 – “yea”
  • Russ Miner, HD 26 – “yea”
  • George Nikolakakos, HD 22 – “yea”
  • Melissa Nikolakakos, HD 20 – “yea”
  • Eric Tilleman, HD 23 – “yea”

The only Cascade County legislator to vote nay was HD 19 Jane Weber ( D ).

These legislators of ours couldn’t even be honest with us, their constituents. A proposed similar law in the 2023 legislature pegged the cost of implementing its requirements at over $1.8 billion. This year and this bill magically there is no cost.
