From a story by NPR:

“In a message to Norway’s prime minister Jonas Gahr Støre on Sunday night, Trump criticized the European country for not giving him the [Nobel Peace] prize.

“Considering your Country decided not to give me the Nobel Peace Prize for having stopped 8 Wars PLUS, I no longer feel an obligation to think purely of Peace, although it will always be predominant, but can now think about what is good and proper for the United States of America,” Trump said in the message.

“The World is not secure unless we have Complete and Total Control of Greenland,” Trump added.”

That’s preposterous.

The USA ensures world safety with bases all over the world in partner countries like Japan and Korea and Bahrain and England. There’s no reason Greenland can’t be a partner too. It already is – the US has had bases there since WWII. Just ask them.

There’s also no reason the USA needs to control all the resources of Greenland either. Just ask too, and partner up. (Unless of course the idea is to simply gut it and divvy up the spoils with cronies without having to pay anything.)

The Greenlanders don’t want to be part of the USA. Greenland and Denmark are loyal allies. The idea of simply conquering Greenland and seizing the resources is old-time colonial thinking. Not to mention anathema to everything pro self-determination and anti colonial the USA has stood for since the mid 20th century.

Contact Senators Daines and Sheehy, and Represenative Downing (and Zinke) and tell them to oppose this proposed outrageous hostile takeover of a friendly and loyal ally and subjugation of its people. Especially a takeover due to a perceived Nobel Peace Prize snub!
