When I saw how the super majority raised property taxes, and how that priced neighbors out of homes and rental units I couldn’t stay silent anymore. Out of state corporations are getting tax breaks while we pay more.
I am running for the Montana Legislature to improve the lives of ALL Montanans – so we can find and keep good-paying jobs; obtain the healthcare we need so we can continue to work and provide for our families; and keep public schools strong so our kids receive the excellent education they deserve.
I live in HD 19 and raised three kids in the neighborhood, the heart of downtown Great Falls. Our children attended Great Falls Public Schools and now have good jobs. If you live on the north and south sides of downtown Great Falls up to 15th Street (northside) or 20th Street (southside), I want to represent you in Helena.
I bring experience and a solid understanding of our neighborhood and local government, having served ten years as your Cascade County Commissioner.
I served on several local government and non-profit boards including the Black Eagle Superfund Cleanup committee, City-County Board of Health, Rural Fire Council. Mental Health Local Advisory Council, Downtown Development Partnership, City-County Library Board, City-County Historic Preservation Advisory Commission, and DUI Taskforce,
As a former Forest Service employee, I did everything from digging fireline and repairing trails to developing range allotment and Forest Management Plans. For ten years, I managed the Lewis and Clark Interpretive Center and learned the value of community partnerships.
I believe every child deserves a quality education so they can succeed in life, because when children have a good education we all benefit. I believe all Montanans should be able to seek medical care without fearing the doctor bill, because when everyone has healthcare insurance and preventative care is affordable ALL Montanans benefit – employees can go to work, employers have a reliable workforce, private insurance costs stabilize and small rural hospitals thrive. I believe Montanans deserve fair taxation and corporations should pay their share, because tax equalization keeps those on fixed incomes (seniors) in their homes, rent costs more reasonable.
I believe we can do better and I am running so Montanans can have a better life under the Big Sky.
